PSYD 895M Working with Sexual and Gender Minority Individuals
This course introduces and teaches a positive approach to sexual and gender minority development and positive identity formation. Students will be introduced to current theories and approaches to psychotherapy when working with SGM patients and examine personal biases, transference, and countertransference issues. A strong focus will be on the myriad of intersecting identities within SGM identities including but not limited to race, ethnicity, gender, social class, ability, religion and spirituality and will challenge students to examine a more mindful and accepting approach. This course is part of the FSPP PSYD curriculum.
