EDL 525 Decision-Making for Educational Systems and Organizations

This course equips candidates with the decision-making and problem-solving skills needed to lead schools with a shared vision rooted in equity, inclusivity, and cultural responsiveness. Grounded in systems theory and critical analysis of educational policy, candidates will examine organizational dynamics using leadership frameworks, network analysis, and decision-making theories. Candidates will develop the capacity to empower diverse leadership teams, foster inclusive teacher decision-making, and center historically marginalized voices in school transformation efforts. Emphasizing the role of policy in shaping educational change, candidates will explore how culturally responsive leadership fosters positive school culture and drives meaningful, equity-focused school improvement. Alternative models of school organization, will be examined through the lens of social justice and community impact, preparing candidates to lead schools that effectively respond to diverse student, family, and community needs.
