CIL 511 Family Literacy for Linguistically and Culturally Diverse Learners
Participants will explore the evolving field of family literacy with multilingual learners, with an emphasis on foundational concepts of multimodality, multiliteracies, and transnational literacies, as well as culturally sustaining and asset-based approaches. Topics focus on working alongside learners and their families to build equity-oriented partnerships, drawing on funds of knowledge and funds of identity, designing community-based collaborations, and leveraging digital technologies to recognize and extend family and community literacies across home, school, and transnational contexts. Course includes 20 clinical hours.
