CIL 501 Introduction to Linguistics for TESOL
This course provides an overview of language as a system, emphasizing its significance for ESL, bilingual education, world language, and heritage language educators, and their students. It is also relevant for general classroom and content teachers working with multilingual and multidialectal learners. Topics delve into principles of phonetics, phonology, morphology, syntax, and pragmatics in relation to language acquisition and teaching. Additionally, participants explore the role of language in society and the importance of sociolinguistics in education.
