RLR 510 Assessment and Diagnosis of Literacy
This course provides a framework for assessing and diagnosing reading difficulties across grade levels. Candidates learn to administer and interpret literacy assessments with attention to cultural and linguistic factors, using results to determine developmental reading levels and instructional needs. Emphasis is placed on the purposes of different assessment types, the strengths and limitations of standardized tools, and the value of formative, holistic, and equitable practices. Candidates also connect assessment results to instructional planning and interventions, and communicate findings to stakeholders through professional reports.
