CCD 607 Scholarly Habits of Mind II

This is the second of two courses focused on developing doctoral students’ scholarly thinking, research engagement, and academic writing. Designed to support the development of a rigorous dissertation literature review, the course emphasizes locating, analyzing, and synthesizing scholarly research across diverse fields and perspectives through guided reading, discussion, and structured writing. Students cultivate critical and empathic scholarly habits, attending to epistemological plurality, positionality, and voice. The course also addresses ethical uses of generative AI, inclusive citation practices, and innovative approaches to representing bodies of literature. Students will produce a substantive literature review draft and strengthen their scholarly identities.
