Research provides the foundation for evidence-based professional nursing practice. Therefore, the role of the baccalaureate nurse as a consumer of research is the focus of this course. Students will develop skills to accurately search for and appraise all levels of literature. Emphasis is placed on the physical, developmental, and psychosocial wellness of the Pediatric patient within the family. Major causes of morbidity and mortality along with the nursing care of community based and hospitalized Pediatric patients are discussed.
