HTH 402 Health Care Policy
This course provides an in-depth analysis of the United States healthcare system, examining its historical development, structure, financing, and regulatory mechanisms. Students will study key policies affecting healthcare access, cost, and quality, including Medicare, Medicaid, the Affordable Care Act, and recent federal and state-level reforms. The course also explores health equity, social determinants of health, and the role of policy in shaping population outcomes. Comparative perspectives from international health systems will be integrated. Through policy briefs, debates, and real-world case studies, students will gain the analytical tools to evaluate and influence healthcare policy as future health professionals or advocates.
