ELE 484 Inquiry Based Teaching Methods, Social Studies, Elementary Grades
This course engages teacher candidates in exploring social studies teaching and learning through an inquiry-based lens. Candidates will use students’ natural curiosity to develop historical thinking, civic competence, and critical thinking while integrating primary sources, current events, and culturally relevant resources. Emphasis is placed on designing inclusive, interdisciplinary lessons, leveraging local communities, and reflecting on teaching practice to grow as culturally responsive educators. Students should expect to spend about 20 hours in the field for this class.
