Protests and Demonstrations

Policy

At National Louis University (NLU), we value both individual freedoms and the importance of a respectful and safe campus environment. We believe in the right to freedom of expression, which includes peaceful protests and demonstrations. However, it’s important that all activities align with NLU’s policies and do not interfere with the university’s operations or the safety of others.

Procedure

To ensure a positive and respectful experience for everyone involved, a representative from the Dean of Students Office will be present at protests, demonstrations, or other similar events held on campus. Their role is to observe and ensure that all events are conducted in an orderly manner, allowing for an open exchange of ideas. If any disruptive behavior or violations of university policy occur, the Dean of Students representative will give instructions to stop the activity when it is safe to do so. If instructions are not followed, it could lead to a referral for disciplinary action according to NLU’s policies. For more information on how to organize a protest on campus or to obtain a protest form, please contact the Dean of Students Office via email at dos@nl.edu
