Re-entry
Students who have previously attended NLU, but have been away from the University for one calendar year or longer, but fewer than five calendar years, must submit a Re-entry Request Form.
The following rules apply to re-entry:
- Students return with the same academic status as when they left
- Students who were dismissed for reasons of academic ineligibility must follow Academic Dismissal Appeal Procedures.
- Students returning with a GPA below the minimum GPA required for graduation must gain approval of the designated university official in order to return. The requirements for Re-Entry with a low GPA are as follows:
- Undergraduate students with an undergraduate level GPA lower than the minimum required by their program must complete additional questions on the Re-Entry Request Form as required by the university.
- The decision for Re-Entry will be made by the Registrar or Registrar’s Office designee.
- Undergraduate students may appeal the decision to the dean of the college of their enrollment.
- Graduate students with a program GPA below a 3.0 must complete additional questions as requested by the university and submit other documentation as required by their college to the Registrar’s Office designee.
- The decision for Re-Entry will be made by the program chair or the designated committee of the college of enrollment.
- The decision is non-appealable.

- Undergraduate students must submit official transcripts of any college work taken since leaving NLU in order to have additional credit reviewed and applied toward their program at NLU.
