Student Insurance
Mandatory Health Insurance Policy
National Louis University is committed to the health and welfare of all its students and, consequently, all students in the following programs are required to obtain health insurance:
• Any student enrolled in the following programs within the Kendal College of Culinary and Hospitality at National Louis University taking 6 or more quarter hours: BA Culinary Arts, AAS Culinary Arts, AAS Baking and Pastry, Certificate in Professional Cookery, Certificate in Baking and Pastry.
• Any student enrolled in the PSYD or MA program in Clinical Psychology at any NLU campus.
• Any student living in university housing
• International Students
Students are automatically included in this insurance plan and the premium for coverage is added to the tuition billing unless proof of comparable coverage is furnished prior to the waiver deadline. Students who have their own health insurance and wish to opt out must complete a Student Health Insurance Waiver Statement by the established deadlines.
Insurance details and rates are located on the National Louis University website at www.nl.edu. Students that do not meet the criteria above are not eligible to obtain the student health insurance.
The deadline to waive out of this plan is September 25, 2022. For students beginning their studies in the Winter, the deadline is January 15, 2023. For students beginning their studies in the Spring, the deadline is April 9, 2023. For students beginning their studies in the Summer, the deadline is July 9, 2023. No exceptions will be made to the waiver deadline.
Waivers will be reviewed by the Division of Student Affairs upon receipt and students will be notified of the decision within five business days. In order for the waiver to be accepted, the Student Health Insurance Waiver Statement must be completed in its entirety. Submit waivers to studentaffairs@nl.edu.
