SPE 533 Early Childhood Special Education Diagnostic Assessment

This course explores developmental and educational assessment strategies for young children, covering social, emotional, cognitive, communication, and motor skills, as well as family concerns. Students use diverse instruments to assess learning environments, conduct formative and summative evaluations, and emphasize non-discriminatory test result use. Collaboration with parents and professionals, integration of information, and report writing are highlighted. The course includes 15 hours of field experience and aligns with Illinois State Board of Education standards for Early Childhood Special Education Approval.
